Definitely in the campus area, you'll be able to find better and safer hidden paths and shortcuts, and i'd recommend you do some digging on google maps before planning your commute. For what it's worth, my commute was about 1/3 getting to 63, 1/3 driving to jeff, and 1/3 getting across the bridge and to my office. Commute is a small price to pay to not have to move and.
